I use Chestnut Spirit Stains to colour these pieces. This will not chip or fade and the platters are finished with melamine lacquer which is hard wearing.
Platters can be customised with names and dates if giving as a special commemorative gift.
More photos will be uploaded soon. The photos shown represent (from l- r)

A pyrography demonstration piece from a recent woodworking show. This is pyrography on local alder. I have used coloured wood stains and highlights of irredescent acrylic paint to bring the piece to life.
Study of garden snails on natural edged Ash from the New Forest. Measures aprox. 10" long. The natural edge forms the branch of the tree. I have used irredescent acrylics to highlight areas of the two fellows.
Each one is a different format, Hunt Scenes, Cycling, Dog walking
Measures approx 22" x 4" (£40)
Due to the natural wood used, measurements and shape may vary slightly. Woods used maybe sycamore, alder or ash or poplar.
Study of Black Nile Crocodile on Hampshire Alder. Measures aprox. 23" long x 12". Finished with Chestnut Products Hard Wax oil.
This piece was a labour of love to complete. From preparing the raw wood to signing the piece off and oiling took over 60 hours.
I have managed to retain a natural bark edge to the Alder. If you look carefully you will see the natural inclusions and knots in the wood have been incorporated into the markings and skin texture.
